'The future of Somalia is uncertain unless warlordism  is rooted out'

The issue of warlordism has eve been questionable since the former millitary regime of Somalia was toppled fiveteen years back in 1991.From that time on,the country fragmented into portions controlled by warlords and the warlords have become the main barrier to stablishing a functioning admistaration in Somalia so as to restore to  the law and order ,get the country back to the international arena and enjoy political and social stability were evey thing is all right. The Somali warlords never kept their promises and as normal always have showed a defferent attitude from what they were saying during the numerous peace confrences held over a decade. When contacted or interviewed the sweat remarks they said that apparently did not come from heart dashed people's hopes and dragged behind every peace settlement as well as the uncetain future of long suffering civillians who have really seen bloody conflict and miserable conditions during the senseless civil war in their mother country.

Bearing in mind the huge efforts attempted were all in vain ,yet as peace loving community living in hope they expected that they would at last arrive at some kind of solution.A gilimmer of hope mounted when the intrasigent Somali warlords threw them selves into the long running peace confrence ,along with the traditional elders civil sociaty organizations Somali community in diaspora and other various groups concerned.Though the Somali delegates let some times fly at one an other with fists and walking sticks, some pulled out the confrence pouring cold water on it while others remained on the ground from the out set with out accomblishing much to speak of.Any way the confrence has finally come to frution with the political and clan frictions have all been resoved, together with the stablishment of a national unity government that was expected to reach the whole country as soon as relocated back home. The phenomenon in the country for now ,it would be a peaceful era if the Somali warlords could deliver the goods frankly. If put things in the right derection and spoke that the warlords would help the country put its feet once again out of the goodness of their heart,we still can not rule out the insight tactics in which some of the warlords are determined to derail the transitional federal government(TFG)and bring the growiing hopes to a gridding halt believing that nothing will stand in their way of butchering the civic sociey and waging the baseless civil war that obviously crippled the country and put Somalis through years of bloodshed and mayhem.

By the way the insecurity in Mogadishu generates a big concern that is flashing through every person's mind which could lead to distraction of smooth administration and robs the government of stablishing its self in the capital. How ever the warlords are at the root cause of the insecurity and the vicious circle in that city. The warlords exploited the political and civil strife that has been active in Somalia for the past years, which is now threatening to turn our live as a whole upside down if not fully tackled through law and order. They orchestrated the divition and inter tribal clashes that wrecked and turnished the beauty image of our home country which its independence cost dearly during the straggle against the colonialists. To all intent and purpose, the Mogadishu warlords play fast and loose with the wide spread insecurity in Mogadishu that the population are always mouthing off as well as the gruesome incidents emanating from the capital day after day with the people going to pieces futher.

Nevertheless ,I would like to give a brief explanation casting on the attitude and idealogy of the warlords .

The warlords attitude

"we acKnowledge that there is a real insecurity in Mogadishu but what bussiness is it of the peace seekers . Let the insecurity rests as it is as log as we are beneficiaries. We don't want any one to touch the critical conditions in the capital .If the peace and order return _ get the joke we will come down in the world. We will no longe be popular within the communiy. We won't coduct amazing enterveiws with the Somali sevice of the BBC with the name of political leaders ,armed fanctions or even some times clan leaders if you like.We trigger violence turning millitiamen against one an other and for that we gain popularity and money from the international community. This is a sensitive thing preying on our minds more than the insecurity setuation they are talking abount. The sticking point how ever is that we will fall penniless as all ISBAARO have been removed and the government gains a foothold in the capital. Thus we are opt to disrupt the TFG and undermine the entire peace initiative. We should act behind the scenes as we are ministers of the fledgling government and we took an oath to work with this provisional government.

The expalanation given above is the true feeling of the warlords,in particular those in the capital. To my personal book,it makes no sense if we expect any good from the warlords who have different agendas from the interest of the country and the Somali people .I emphazise that the the national reconstruction will fall to pieces and the transitional government can not take a single stape unless warlordism is addressed
